Los altillos is located in the exclusive Moravit area of
Moraira. Moraira is considered to be the most chic of the Costa Blanca coastal
villages and is convenient for both Alicante and Valencia airports which are
approximately one hour and one hour, ten minutes travelling time respectively.
Moraira boasts an exclusive marina, a beautiful gently
sloping, sandy and sheltered beach, a superb selection of fine restaurants and
bars, as well as many shops. Fridays are market day where a good selection of
ceramics, leather goods, fruits and fresh nuts of every description can be
purchased very keenly (depending upon your negotiating skills). Despite the fact
that this once small fishing village has grown considerably over the years to
become the place where the more discerning now chose to holiday, Moraira remains
home to the local fishermen who moor their small boats alongside the palatial
super yachts and motor cruisers permanently moored in the new marina. Fish
“fresh from the morning catch” can be bought at the fish auction most mornings.
Naturally there are also a good selection of modern supermarkets to provide
for your every day needs, the nearest of which is only 500 metres from the
Moraira still manages to retain the charm of a small
fishing village, due in the main, to the Local Authority exerting strong
planning control for many years, which has subsequently prevented the
development characteristic of so many other Spanish coastal resorts. Here in
Moraira, the local terrain slopes gently from the coast into the pine-clad
foothills, providing spectacular views of the coastline.
This beautiful private villa (fully refurbished in 2003) is set in its own
private mature plot of 1,390 square metres, positioned well back from the road
and reached only via a private lit driveway. The villa is approximately 500m to
the sea and only 1.5km to the centre of the quaint village of Moraira. Which is
itself, midway between Alicante and Valencia, both of which have international
airports accommodating various daily flights to and from many parts of the U.K.
This region of the Costa Blanca is home to numerous quality golf courses
within easy reach of the villa, the nearest of which is only 1.5kms away.
The safe beaches of Moraira and El Portet are well served by
restaurants and bars making them an ideal alternative to relaxing around your
One of the worlds most exciting and fun theme parks “Terra Mitica” owned and
operated by Paramount is only a thirty-minute drive away, as is the Water Park
“Aqualandia” and Spain’s answer to Sea World “Mundomar”.
Another popular local attraction is “The Lemon Express”.
This is an old fashioned train, which takes passengers north to Gata de Gorgos.
It is a purely tourist journey which takes 5 hours through Benidorm, Altea, the
Penon de Ifach (Calpe) and Teulada (which is only 10 minutes from the villa) and
other natural places not otherwise accessible. On the return journey south
passengers enjoy the wonderful landscape of the Mediterranean from the heights
of the coast whilst sparkling wine is served.
The Jalon Valley (Vall de Pop) only a 15-minute drive from the villa is known
as The Valley of Wine. It is surrounded by magnificent mountains that seem to
change form every time you look at them. Jalon itself lies in the centre of the
valley whilst surrounded by many smaller villages nestled amongst the
grapevines, almond and orange trees.
In the winter months the Costa Blanca is lucky enough
to have nearly as many sunny days as in the summertime. The Jalon valley is a
walker's paradise, with routes ranging from a very gentle stroll to a six hour
walk around the Sierra Bernia mountains to the south of Jalon. You may even like
to take a trek through the vineyards on horseback, from one of the local
stables. In late January the whole of the valley is obscured with almond
One can only describe the view as a magnificent blanket of pink and
white. Well worth a visit!!
Jalon is also very famous for its local wines. There are at least three
bodegas where you can spend many a leisurely hour sampling the various types.
But beware, some are very strong! Additionally, The Jalon valley hosts around
fifty restaurants to choose from, with international as well as regional cuisine
